Agriculture, food security and climate change are related areas facing challenges brought about by rapid advances in science and technology in the context of changing social, economic and environmental pressures.
The mission of the AGRILIFE Unit is to assess developments in the above fields and to provide customer-driven support to the EU’s policy-making process in the respective policy areas.
The AGRILIFE Unit is divided into three actions:
- Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development (SUSTAG) Action
- Support to Agricultural Trade and Market Policies (AGRITRADE) Action
- New Technologies in Agriculture – their agronomic and socio-economic impact (AGRITECH) Action
 |
The aim of SUSTAG is to assess the impact of the Common Agricultural Policy on European farming and rural areas, addressing
sustainability of farming systems and
rural development.
|
 |
AGRITRADE provides Commission Services, in particular DG AGRI, with quantitative analysis of commodity markets and trade liberalisation processes. |
 |
The aim of AGRITECH is to provide science-based support to the European Commission for policy making processes related to the introduction of new technologies at farm level. |
